Hi y'all! I was looking back on photos and could not believe how much progress I have made. It is so insane to me. I am currently using: (AM) Cerave Foaming Cleanser (Only use this when I am wearing makeup) Cerave Moisturizing Lotion (Only use this when I am wearing makeup) La Roche Posay Tinted Sunscreen (Everyday) (I have just started using this, so I am not sure about how this will impact my skin yet) (PM) Cerave Foaming Cleanser (Everyday) Curology treatment (Azeliac Acid, Niacinamide, Clindamycin) (every day) Cocokind Barrier Serum (Everyday) Cerave Moisturizing Lotion (Everyday) I also take probiotics and vitamin D. I have combination sensitive skin that is very acne-prone. My skin is still very sensitive but much calmer now. I have always had acne, but I tried some products my skin did not like a year ago (The Inkey List and First Aid), and my skin became the worst it had ever been. I tried so many different things like Differin, Tret, Winlevi, Spiro, and nothing helped. I decided to go back to the basics a few months ago, and the change has been insane. Edit: I also use Micellar Water before cleansing to take off makeup!!

I would say start over on your skincare routine. Start with the VERY basics. Gentle face wash (I love Cerave hydrating foaming facial cleanser for normal to dry skin) Moisturizer (I love the first aid beauty ultra repair cream) An under eye cream Go from there. Use that for a week or two then add in ONE more product at a time to see how your skin responds to it. I find overloading your skincare routine actually can do the opposite of what you want to achieve. We’ve been influenced to think we need some super complex routine. First addition for your skin I would add in would be retinol. It will help with acne, acne scars, and aging. See if your derm will prescribe it rather than buying one at the store. Add it in VERY slowly. Start 1x per week then work up to 2x per week. Also make sure the products you’re adding to your basic routine are being used properly. You don’t need to mechanically or chemically exfoliate your skin every day. A few other things to consider- vitamins/supplements (do some research or ask derm for suggestions) and cutting out or minimizing dairy consumption.

Google KP (Keratosis Pilaris). If you think this is what you have, buy a Salicylic Acid body wash and quality moisturizer (I'm using CeraVe Intensive Moisturizing Lotion), use both almost daily. My KP cleared up in like 2 weeks doing this!

I’m with everyone here. I can’t use anything that is lotion consistency unless I want a break out that won’t go away for a year. Cerave was the worst. Instant cystic acne. Serums and oils are fine - lotions are a no go. I have keratosis pilaris and do best with occasional bump remover with fulvic acid wash.

No clue if this is the answer but your products here seem to contain niacinamide, and a lot of people have issues with it making their skin worse. Personally, I’d switch to an oil control face wash (my acne improved when I switched to Cerave foaming facial wash for normal to oily skin) followed by 4% benzoyl peroxide (or 10% if your skin can handle it) twice a day. If I were you I’d also switch to a gentle moisturizer, I like La Roche Posay double toleriane. Vitamin C can also cause issues, so I’d eliminate that. I’m sorry you’re going through this! It’s really tough on mental health. If changing your products doesn’t help, def time to ask a derm about accutane!

Cerave Hydrating Sheer Sunscreen SPF 30. Uses both chemical and mineral filters. It's been really effective for me and not expensive.

I usually find when I moisturise it, it improves the appearance of my pores. Like those TikTok’s of people using what is it cerave? to help their pores?

There is no one-size-fits-all! People with oilier skin can tolerate acids more frequently than people with dry, sensitive skin. Listen to your dermatologist, and pay attention to how your skin feels and behaves, too. I’m another person who does poorly with Cerave products. Their gentlest face wash for “extremely dry skin” makes mine sting, and if I use “Cerave in the tub” too frequently it can make me break out. But I do have to use it every so often to keep my moisture barrier intact.

Reading these comments makes me feel seen. No one i talked to believed me when I said Cereve destroyed my skin barrier. I would wash my face with a cleanser and then put cream on. My face would puff up and burn. I've been using the Laneige water bank system and cream toner. It's helped tremendously. I will also occasionally rotate in glow recipe cloudberry moisturizer or olehenriksen Strength Trainer Peptide Boost Moisturizer.

And if you aren’t going to bed with the thick Cerave emollient (the one that is basically petroleum jelly), you’re missing out. Doing so took at least 5 yrs off my face.

I swear by CeraVe moisturizing cream. I used to spend winter with cracked skin until I started using it.
