Cardinal Scent’s Gentle Reader - old book pages, vanillin, orris butter, vintage amber. I’ve tried a bunch of different book scents and a lot of them go hard on the leather (which leather tomes are cool but aren’t the smell I was trying to find) or have too many additional things going on (a lot of tobacco). Gentle Reader smells exactly like they managed to bottle the yellowing 70s paperbacks that I grew up on, it is really special. There is also Sunsphere Scents’ Hodges - forgotten books, vanilla, orris, sheer woods - which I think is a little more full but still smells like book pages. It’s not quite as one to one for me, but is definitely a good representative. Those are my two favorites.

yup. yellow 70s paperbacks, exactly. i really love it, most other book scents are too fantasy paper-y and can give me headaches. Oh, and Morning Paper is the perfect newsprint and dry coffee scent, if you’re looking for other realistic papers from Cardinal Scents!

Today I'm starting out with Girl Crush by Cardinal Scents. It's one of my comfort scents ngl. Later on, I'll probably retest Birch and Besom's Creature Feature as my spouse and I will be seeing a movie tonight with at least one friend of ours.

Cardinal Scents! Most of my hits have been with this house. I’ve full-sized Lunar Conspiracy and Sugar Haze as well as picked up 7 ml sizes to travel with to Japan. I’ve also just gotten more samples today and am already planning to do the same with Girl Crush.

It’s not quite what you’re describing, but for lactonic but not sweet, Cardinal Scents has Familiar Spirit - Milk, white sage, sea salt, white amber. It is great, a little savory but creamy and peaceful.

Wearing Cardinal Scent’s Familiar Spirit - Milk, white sage, sea salt, white amber. My parents came to visit this weekend and while it was really nice to see them, it was also a lot of social energy so I’m wearing something that makes me feel cozy and peaceful.
